The WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health calls for action of those living and working conditions that affect the health of communities and individuals.
But how can we ensure that we prevent these determinants from negatively affecting the health of individuals in the first place?
Furthermore, how do we ensure that those most vulnerable cease being those most negatively affected?

Health equity impact assessment (HEIA) is one approach that assesses proposed policies, programs or projects for their potential effects on health and suggests modifications, or mitigation measures, to decrease negative impacts and increase positive impacts.
