People with mental health illnesses need assurance that they are not the first to go through the difficulties of mental illness. Imparting your personal experiences on how you overcame your mental health hardships can serve as inspiration and encouragement to others. Plus, it can help in your recovery as well.
A good way to share your experience is by taking part in our presentations. We have one presentation that is attended by teenagers who are in middle and high school, teachers and school staff, and parents or guardians. The audiences are taught more about the signs and symptoms of mental illness, ways on how to detect them, and how important it is to acknowledge the alarming signs.
You can also talk to the public about promoting mental health awareness and ways to recover.
CHNET also offers a presentation for African American groups that focus on raising awareness on mental health, understanding the signs and symptoms of mental health disorders, and how and where to seek help.
